Hello everyone! Will and I just got home last night from our big Indiana road trip. We had a wonderful time. My mom went with us which made the trip a lot easier. First of all, my mom's SUV has a built in tv with DVD player so Will could watch Elmo. It keeps him enterained but listening to that annoying Elmo voice sure gets old fast (especially when you are listening to it for hours on end!!!). Our first stop was LaFayette, Indiana to visit my great Auntie Clara. LaFayette will always be a very special place to me because it is where I was born. Even after my parents moved, we visited my Auntie often and some of my happiest childhood memories are of our visits to see her. She always took us to a local small amusement park to ride rides and feed the ducks. So...it was only fitting that we would take the next generation, little Will, to the park. I took him on the train ride around the park and we fed the ducks...it was a wonderful afternoon and I know it really meant a lot to my Auntie. We only stayed the one night and the next afternoon headed to my mom's sister's house in LaPorte, Indiana (where my two brothers were born). We moved to LaPorte when I was only 1 years old and stayed there until I was in the 3rd grade. My mom grew up there and her brothers and sisters still remain there. We stayed at my Aunt Tootie's house for the next 3 days and had a blast. My Aunt Brenda and her son Steven stayed there too (they live in the next town over). My sister Margie came to visit as well and we all went to the LaPorte County Fair! We all had a great time. We all went on rides, including Will, and ate lots of fair food - yummm!! They had a little petting zoo set up and Will loved it. He fed the ponies carrots and the goats grain. He just giggled with excitement. Will slept so hard that night!! The rest of the weekend was relaxing. We swam in my Aunt's pool, played board games, ate lots of yummy food and visited. My mom and I were really sad when we had to leave. I don't have any more big trips planned for a while so I am ready for a little "down time." Bill is trying to get ready for school to start --- getting his new office all set up and his lesson plans prepared. I am looking forward to fall!
