Yesterday I had a lovely visit from an old friend, Missy Miecznikowski. We have known each other since we were kids practically & have remained very close friends. She was here all afternoon and we were able to catch up on everything that is going on in each others' lives. She will be getting married this summer to a great guy & Bill and I are both in the bridal party. It should be a lot of fun. Speaking of this summer...I have an awful lot on my plate for this summer. Being the socialite that I am, I am really looking forward to it. I have: 2 weddings, 2 bridal showers, 2 baby showers, my 10 year high school reunion, a big family reunion in Illinios and trying to get moved. I may have forgotten a few things but you get the point. This summer is going to be a whirlwind of activity...that's just how I like it. The painters are almost done and I must say the color has really grown on me. Now that I can imagine the final product, I think it is going to be really nice. Thank Goodness!! These guys have done a fabulous job considering it has probably been decades since this house was last painted! I am so glad to be rid of that pukey green color!!! My realtor is coming over Monday to take pictures of the outside & inside of the house & then it will officially be on the market. It sure would be nice if we could get this house sold in a hurry - that would definitely relieve a little stress. Will and I will be on our way to PA tomorrow morning. My mom is arriving this afternoon & is driving us back to her house tomorrow so that Bill can have the van. He is helping his sister move this weekend and the van can really hold quite a bit. Tomorrow night is the Tim McGraw concert in Pittsburgh and I am sooooooo excited! Margie & I are going to have so much fun. I'll tell you all about it. Not much else going on around here. Take care. posted by Katie Cunion Thursday, March 27, 2003
Sorry it has been a few days since my last entry but things have been a little hectic around here. To make a long story short: my life insurance provider decided to do a testimonial on me. Two years ago Bill and I decided to purchase life insurance for me and increase his current policy in preperation for starting a family. As it turns out, that was a very wise move! Due to the cancer, I am now uninsurable so, if I didn't already have insurance in place I would be out of luck. My insurance provider, Thrivent Financial(formerly Aid Association for Lutherans), realized that this is a wonderful message to send to its sales force. I agreed to the project because I hope it will encourage young families to act now. Just because life seems to be moving along smoothly today doesn't mean that tomorrow won't produce a road block...you can't take tommorow for granted. A film crew arrived at my house Friday at 8 am and didn't leave until almost 4 pm. It was a very long day! They wanted to get footage with me and my horse, Romeo, so they made arrangements to meet me at the stable Saturday at 8:30 am. Now, keep in mind that Romeo is boarded at a stable near Alliance, Ohio. We had moved him in anticipation of our move this summer. Since the barn is only a 30 minute drive from Bill's folks in Massillon I had decided to stay there Friday night. So, after the film crew left Friday I loaded Will in the van and away we went. Will was extremely cranky from the stimulation of the day and was not in a mood to travel. He was fussing, crying, throwing his Binky & then crying for it...FUN drive! 30 minutes into the trip as I am looking at Will in my rear view mirror, I hear sirens. I was being pulled over!! I was confused because I knew that I had set my cruise for only 5 over the speed limit and surely I was not going to get a ticket for a piddley 5 over. A very young officer approached my window and stated, in a typical southern Ohio accent: "Hello Ma'am. I pulled you over because I clocked you going 65 mph. Are you aware Ma'am that this is a 55 mph zone?" I felt like someone slapped me...of course I "knew" it was a 55 zone because I had made this trip a million times. Why had I thought it was a 60 zone? How careless. The officer was very nice, which makes it even worse because it's hard to be angry at someone who is being so pollite. Will and I continued on our way. That was the longest 2 1/2 hours I have ever spent because I was fretting about telling Bill. I didn't even have a legitimate excuse to give him. He took the news remarkably well, stating that it was punishment enough that I had worried about it the rest of the drive. Needless to say, I stayed at the speed limit the whole drive home on Saturday. With the filming at the barn finished I headed back to Bill's folks to get Will ready for the drive home to Athens. When I pulled into my driveway 3 hours later I almost had a heart attack. Remember me telling you that I was having my house painted to help with the resale? I had picked out a lovely blue - at least it looked lovely on the 1 inch swatch. For those of you with young children you are probably familiar with the Disney show "Bear in the Big Blue House" - that is my house now. The blue is MUCH brighter than I had anticipated. I am hoping they can fix it since they have only put one coat on one side of the house so far...if not - YIKES! Well, that is all the drama in my life right now. I'll keep you posted. posted by Katie Cunion Sunday, March 23, 2003
