I spent all day yesterday at the Cleveland Clinic for all of my regular tests and appointments. Bill's folks watched Will and my mom and brother, John, went with me. The day did not start of too well when I showed up for my Cat scan. The receptionist asked me if I had had anything to eat or drink in the last 4 hours -- of course as she is asking me this I am slurping down a big diet coke -- I told her yes. She said I wasn't suppose to eat or drink for 4 hours prior to the test. I informed her that I didn't know this and that I had just finished eating lunch 10 minutes ago. So...they said they would squeeze me in at the end of the day when I was finished with my other appointments. I threw away the diet coke and headed to my next appointment feeling like a total ding-bat. My next appointment was my chest x-ray. They were really backed up so it took forever!! Finally, with chest films in hand I headed to my appointment with my Orthopedic Surgeon. Good news!!! The chest x-ray was clear!! He did a physical exam of my residual limb and said everything looked great. Next up was my Oncologist. We were running really late because my other appointments had been behind & unfortunately my next appointment was several buildings away. If you've every been to the Clinic then you know that you can get to all buildings indoors through skyways, but they are really spread out. John told me to hop into a wheel chair and he would run me -- let's face it, I don't walk that fast. He took off! We were laughing so hard. We finally got to my appointment only a few minutes late. My Onclogist was glad to see that the chest x-ray was clear. He did a physical exam and said that everything looked really good. He said I could call in the next day for my Cat scan results. Finally, I headed to my last appointment - Cat scan. I hate the dye they inject you with because it gives you a horrible metallic taste in your mouth and a very warm feeling all over your body. With that completed my day was done. All that was left was to get the Cat scan results. I called my Oncologist's office earlier today to get the Cat scan results. The scan showed that my lungs are clear! No signs of metastatic disease in my lungs or lymph nodes!! Unfortunately the scan found a nodule/mass in one of my breasts. My Oncologist requested that I get a Mammogram ASAP so they squeezed me in on Tuesday. I will have the test on Tuesday and get the results on Wednesday. Although I am sure that everything is going to be fine, I would appreciate your prayers. Tomorrow Will and I head on to my folks in PA for a few days. I will try to post updates as I get a chance but will definately post one Wednesday with my test results. posted by Katie Cunion Thursday, March 06, 2003
Sorry I didn't post an entry yesterday, but things have been a little rough in the Cunion household the past two days. Will is cutting some teeth and is having a really hard time of it. Saturday night we were up and down with him all night because he was so uncomfortable. Then, yesterday he was extremely fussy all day. I feel so bad for the little guy because I know he is so uncomfortable. He is experiencing all the "wonderful" symptoms of teething: fever, drooling, loss of appetite, irritability... Last night was even worse. I was up with him from 2:30 am until 6:30 am. Finally, at 6:30 he fell back asleep and I was able to put him back in his crib and lay back down myself...he woke back up at 7:30, but at least I got a quick nap. Today is going to be a very long day!! I've been told that they get 22 teeth...he is just getting his 3rd and 4th --- YIKES!!!! On a good note - we had our friends Joe & Melissa, with daughter Isabelle, over for dinner last night. Despite Will's fussiness, we had a really nice time. Bill and I are definately going to miss them when we move. Will and I are heading out of Athens tomorrow on a little road trip. We will be staying with Bill's folks Tueday through Friday. I have a full day of appointments at the Cleveland Clinic on Wednesday so Bill's mom will be watching squirt. Say some prayers that all my tests Wednesday come back clean...I'll post an update Wednesday night with my results. On Friday we will be heading to PA to visit my side of the family. All my sibs will be there to celebrate my brother, Paul's, birthday. Even though traveling with a little one is difficult, it is always nice to spend time with family. Well, that's it for now. Hope all of you are doing well. posted by Katie Cunion Monday, March 03, 2003
